The music video for the song was released through YouTube on 19 October 2018 in the United Kingdom, and in the United States on 22 October 2018. Mike Nied of Idolator called the song Lloyd "at her most liberated, and she has rarely sounded better." Writing for The Guardian, Kate Solomon wrote that the "sing-songy nursery rhyme feel and breezy delivery don't hide the cutting tone", and compared it to anyone who has "spent an hour scrolling through an ex's Insta feed before sending 600 screengrabs to the group chat". During the chorus she sings, "Damn, I heard that you and her been having issues/I wish you the best, I hope that she can fix you/You'll be calling me the second that it hits you, but baby, this is none of my business." The song has been described as "sassy and charismatic". It incorporates "breezy production courtesy of Hitimpulse" and lyrically features Lloyd making it "very clear that she has moved on from a former flame". Musically, "None of My Business" has a length of three minutes and four seconds and moves at a tempo of 134 beats per minute. Despite the lack of promotion, the single received over 500 million streams across platforms, with 57 million streams on Spotify along with 47 million views on YouTube as of October 2021. The single was considered a 'warm-up' track. In a press release for the song, Lloyd stated, "I've waited so long for people to finally listen to my new music, which I've worked so hard for a long time, and think 'None Of My Business' is a perfect taste for what's to come - I have never been so excited in my life to present my new music." The song is Lloyd's first single in two years. The song was announced in a video posted to Lloyd's social media platforms on 16 October 2018, revealing an introduction clip and release date for the single. " None of My Business" is a song by English singer and songwriter Cher Lloyd, released on 19 October 2018 through Universal Music Group. While I was never told to kowtow, I was always admonished not to confront, not to appear defiant, less I face the white man’s wrath.2018 single by Cher Lloyd "None of My Business" About growing up in small towns in western Tennessee, where his father preached, he recalled, “In those towns I learned the key to the apartheid state that was the South. Honeysucker, Jr., (1943–2017), was born in Memphis, the son of an Episcopalian minister. Honeysucker gives contrast to the dramatic music of The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Benjamin Britten’s “Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Purcell”) with his singing of several civil-rights-era marching songs in his deep, rich baritone voice. The film contains footage not seen since 1963 of Sir Malcolm Sargent and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performing in Boston’s Symphony Hall several weeks before the incident in Jackson, which was broadcast nationally one week after the incident, a little more than two weeks before the assassination of JFK. Following a formal protest to the President of the United States from student members of Cambridge Union, charges against Honeysucker and Bosanquet were dropped. In this 5-minute documentary short, the late Robert Honeysucker (1943–2017) of Cambridge, Massachusetts, a professional baritone singer and teacher well known in Boston’s classical music scene, and Nicholas Bosanquet, a distinguished health economist in London, recall their youthful attempt to desegregate a concert by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London in Jackson, Mississippi, on November 1, 1963, their subsequent arrest, and the ensuing international uproar that inspired prominent musicians to boycott performances before segregated audiences in the US and South Africa.
